This is an era of economic crisis world wide. There might be a Ugandan or non-Ugandan interested in the Ugandan capital marrkets but wondering the current state of these markets in relation to the Global economic Crisis. My dear don't worry, because Uganda has not been among the seriously injured states. All I can say to you interested investor is that this is the best time for anybody investing in Uganda to buy shares, put the money in Collective Investment Schemes. This is because this time, the share prices are very low and once the economies recover from the depression, then smiles will force themselves on your face.
Do not waste time now, just get the money you have saved from the terror of christmas and run to the stock broker or Investment Scheme Manager for investment. However, don't forget to inquire from the broker the performance of the different companies. In addition to the broker's advice, evaluate these companies yourself and make the final decision.
The same to the Unit trusts, first understand clearly how each portifolio works and then know where to commit your resources. Save for the future capital and invest now every savings that you make. Start saving to grow your capital and portifolios.

When should I Invest?
Most of the people every time ask themselves, when is the best time to invest in stocks, bonds or unit trusts? The answer is simple; In stocks the best time for investment is when the share price of a desired comany has gone down with a possibility of it rising up again. This helps the investor to buy the stock at a lower price and then sell at a higher price, there by earning a capital gain. With Bonds let it be government, municipal or corporate Bonds, it is a sure deal at any time they are issued. For the unit trusts, as long as you have as little as Ugshs 50,000 you can invest at any time. Investment is an issue for every body if Uganda is to eradicate poverty.

A stock is the same as a share. It is a unit of ownership in any company that is listed on the exchange market. In Uganda the examples of stock that we have include Uganda clays Ltd, Stanbic Bank Uganda, Bank of Baroda, New Vision Ltd, DFCU bank, East african Breweries, Kenya Airways, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and British American Tobacco and Jubilee Holdings Ltd.
